Business Planning

Planning and budgeting is a critical element of success whether for personal or business endeavors. I provide strategic thinking and planning support including management coaching on setting goals and objectives at all levels of the organization. Another component of service that I provide is strategic and competitive analysis in addition to conducting strategic assessments of a business operation. I, also have a number of training programs that provide insight and direction on strategic planning approaches.

Some of the areas where I provide assistance is with business planning processes that range from budgeting, development of rolling forecasts, capital expenditures, and cash flow plans and projections. One of my special areas of expertise is profit focused (lean) accounting whereby I utilize direct costing, throughput accounting, activity-based costing and analysis to create rolling forecasts that provide accurate and current estimates of revenue, costs, and profitability.

I utilize these techniques in ways that fit smaller business operations and strip away the jargon so all the action steps are understandable. Many smaller businesses are leery of strategic planning because they don’t understand it and think it will be too costly. My approach of Building Business Value provides the foundation required for effective strategic, financial, and operational planning. I facilitate and enable small business strategic planning so that it becomes a realistic and effective process.

Based on years of experience working with family-owned businesses, I am especially equipped to deal with the dynamics of these types of businesses. I have hands on experience in structuring succession plans and establishing a foundation for family business planning. I have worked with and guided one of the most successful and largest family-owned businesses in Colorado. My work with this client was one of the reasons for moving to Montrose, Colorado.
